Nadb

Arabic (ندب) for the shari’ah effect of recommending an act or way of conduct for Muslims. In other words, it is what shari’ah recommends but without imposition or obligation. Mandub/ mandoob (as derived from nadb) is a shari’a classification of hukum (or hukm) which includes all virtuous, recommended, or desirable actions whose fulfillment is rewarded or praiseworthy, but whose negligence will not incur any punishment, blame, or accountability. The doer gets rewarded for a recommended act, while anyone who does not do it would incur no blame or punishment otherwise. An example is charity (sadaqah) and giving by way of gift (hibah or hadiyyah).
