A collateralized debt obligation (CDO) that is structured in a way compliant with shari’ah rules and principles. The pool (reference portfolio) of underlying assets consists of debt obligations (and/ or equity like portion), particularly a basket of sukuk (corporate sukuk, sovereign sukuk, etc.) and mortgages. The cash flows generated by sukuk and/ or mortgages will be used to pay CDO holders.
