The final bid and ask price that a market maker, or a specialist, states at the end of a trading session. It is a security’s trading price for a trading day (at the end of regular hours). As global markets become more interconnected and due to existence of extended-hours trading (ETH) sessions, the closing quote (for a previous trading day) need not be the next day’s opening quote.
