Blanket Recommendation

A recommendation to buy or sell a particular security or product that is issued by a broker/ brokerage firm (or broadly, a financial professional) to all its clients. It is “blanket” in the sense that the recommendation is sent to all clients on board regardless of investment objectives or portfolio size, preferences, etc. That is, brokers do not consider individual objectives of their clients before issuing them a blanket recommendation. Hence, the recommendation might be wrong for some clients (as it is practically impossible to issue a recommendation suitable for everyone).
