Sadaqa

A voluntary act (nafelah) that involves giving or donating to a person or charity. By nature, sadaqa (in Arabic script صدقة) is not sanctioned or imposed by sources of shari’a (primary and/ or secondary) as is the case with zakah, and hence it is subject to no specific rules or conditions. However, it is commendable (mandoob/ mustahabb). Shari’a maintains that sadaqa given without public announcement or showing off by the giver appeases the anger of Allah.

Under the banner of sadaqa all good deeds and noble acts come along. Sadaqa comes in different types including financial help, benefit-free lending, all forms of assistance, good advice, and so on.
