Support

The troughs or reaction lows on the chart under the market level where buying interest is sufficiently strong to overcome downside pressures (selling pull-down). At these levels, prices stop their downward movement and start to turn back up again. A support level can be identified beforehand by a previous reaction low.

The opposite of support is resistance.
